Fort Hill is a small residential neighborhood comprised of roughly 0.4 square miles. During the Revolutionary War, particularly the Siege of Boston, these same 0.4 square miles were key for the patriot army since this is where they were mainly housed. After the war, many of Fort Hill's colonial style buildings were destroyed, but, once a streetcar system was implemented, construction and development quickly improved the neighborhood. In its earlier days, Fort Hill's population was largely characterized by a large group of immigrants from all over the Globe as well as the American South. Fort Hill's population remains diverse, and in recent years it has seen a large influx of students and artists that have continued to make this welcoming neighborhood grow.
